Beijing, September 14 /Xinhua/ — During the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2026, held from September 9 to 13 in Beijing, cooperation agreements in the field of education were signed between universities of China, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.
At the fair, North China University of Technology /NCTU/, located in the capital of China, and Andijan State Technical Institute /Uzbekistan/ signed an agreement on the joint establishment of a School of Modern Engineering. Beijing Information Science and Technology University /BISTU/ and Nakhchivan State University /Azerbaijan/ signed a framework agreement on a joint training project for specialists in information security.
A representative of NCTU stated that the aforementioned School of Modern Engineering offers three undergraduate programs – electronic information engineering, mechatronics, and electrical engineering, within which it plans to admit 75 students annually. Admissions for the fall semester of 2026 have already begun.
According to his report, these programs are implemented under a “2+2” model leading to a dual academic degree: during the first two years, students study at the Andijan State Technical Institute in Uzbekistan, and the following two years at NCTU.
A representative of NCTU said that the new institution serves as an international base for training specialists, as well as a platform for cooperation in teaching and scientific research, focusing on priority disciplines of the two universities such as artificial intelligence, information technology, intelligent manufacturing, new materials, as well as energy storage systems and new energy.
Regarding the cooperation between Chinese and Azerbaijani universities, the BISTU representative at the fair booth stated that this joint project, aimed at preparing undergraduate students from Azerbaijan, will be implemented using the “2+2” model: first two years of study at the aforementioned Azerbaijani university, followed by two years at BISTU.
He added that both sides plan to hold negotiations on the details of cooperation in October this year in Beijing, to promote the harmonization of curricula, mutual recognition of academic credits, and the development of a dual degree program, as well as to expand opportunities for Azerbaijani students to study in China for the purpose of training interdisciplinary specialists in the field of digital security with knowledge in cryptography, computer science, and cybersecurity.
“We hope to rely on China’s digital technologies and information security technologies, as well as experience in training relevant specialists to support Azerbaijan in developing its digital sector and preparing more professionals for the implementation of joint projects in China-Azerbaijan cooperation,” said the BISTU representative.
