New Delhi, September 13 /Xinhua/ — On Sunday, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed five cooperation initiatives within the framework of the “expanded BRICS” in areas such as artificial intelligence, simplification of trade and investment procedures, digital industry, smart manufacturing, and training of specialists in advanced scientific and innovative technologies.

He made such proposals during his participation in the events of the second day of the BRICS leaders’ meeting in New Delhi.

Xi Jinping emphasized that the “big BRICS” should exert greater influence, achieve more development, and lay a solid foundation for practical cooperation.

“The ‘Big BRICS’ should leverage its advantages based on emerging markets and close ties with Global South countries, promote openness and cooperation for mutual benefit and shared gains, support stability and uninterrupted production and supply chains, and also facilitate the formation of integrated markets,” said the Chinese leader.

He also noted that the “big BRICS” should build innovation incubators, modernize traditional industries, develop new sectors, and devise forward-looking plans for future industries so that new technologies can pave the way to shared prosperity.
