The capital has received 333 NefAZ-5299 buses, including 100 suburban modification vehicles. The new transport is serviced at five Mosgortrans sites and operates on the “Moscow — region” project routes, connecting the capital with seven urban districts of the Moscow region. “The development of the bus fleet directly affects the quality of the urban environment. Modern NefAZ-5299 buses have already been deployed on 29 routes of the ‘Moscow — region’ project. We continue to expand the network of suburban routes and launch modern transport in the Moscow region following Sergey Sobyanin’s directive,” noted Maksim Liksutov.
Each bus is equipped with more than 30 seats. The suburban model vehicles feature soft seats with seat belts. Special seats, a fold-out ramp, and driver call buttons are provided for passengers with limited mobility. The interiors have adaptive lighting, charging ports for mobile devices, and a climate control system.
The new NefAZ-5299 buses comply with Moscow transport standards. They are equipped not only for passengers traveling in wheelchairs but also for transporting bicycles and strollers.
Project “Moscow — Region”
The “Moscow — Region” project started operating last year. At that time, 25 routes were launched towards the nearest towns of the Moscow region in the northwest and west directions. This became possible thanks to an agreement between the governments of Moscow and the Moscow region.
Moscow transport standards apply on these routes. Buses follow a convenient schedule with optimal intervals. Modern rolling stock, operated by professional drivers, is deployed on the line. More than 50 routes of the project are planned to be opened in total in 2026.
The development of the suburban network also contributes to the improvement of the transport infrastructure of the Moscow region. Plans include placing modern bus shelters, arranging dedicated lanes, creating new and reconstructing existing transport hubs. This will make it more convenient to combine different types of urban transport during daily trips between Moscow and the Moscow suburbs.
Passengers can pay for their ride with the “Troika” card. It is sold and can be topped up at ticket offices and vending machines of the Moscow Metro. Funds can also be added online through the “Moscow Metro” and “Moscow Transport” apps, after which the remote top-up must be activated on any validator inside the bus.
