The Interdistrict Nephrology Center of the S.S. Yudin Hospital has become the largest in the capital in terms of providing renal replacement therapy — the capacity of the hemodialysis department has been doubled. The procedure allows patients with severe kidney diseases and chronic renal failure to have their blood purified when their own organs can no longer perform their function. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

“In recent years, Moscow has been developing a new approach to organizing specialized medical care. We are creating a network of competence centers where the necessary resources and experience for treating certain diseases are concentrated. Among them, a network of nephrology care centers has been established, which enables arranging treatment for patients with kidney diseases along a unified pathway. One of the key areas is expanding opportunities for patients requiring renal replacement therapy. For instance, the capacity of the hemodialysis department at the S.S. Yudin hospital has doubled. Now, up to 200 patients per day can receive vital renal replacement therapy here. Moreover, the center’s capabilities are not limited to hemodialysis. Within the multidisciplinary hospital setting, patients can consult various specialists, undergo necessary diagnostics, and receive advanced surgical treatments. This comprehensive approach ensures continuity of care and allows for selecting the necessary medical assistance considering each patient’s condition,” said Anastasia Rakova.

Thus, the number of “artificial kidney” machines increased from 25 to 52 units, which significantly increased the volume of procedures and expanded access for patients with chronic kidney failure to regular renal replacement therapy.

The hemodialysis department is part of the Interdistrict Nephrology Center of the S.S. Yudin Hospital — one of the largest specialized centers in Moscow for the treatment of kidney diseases.

The main advantage of the center is its round-the-clock operation as part of a multidisciplinary inpatient facility. This ensures continuous care for patients requiring hemodialysis, including those with complications related to vascular access. Thus, if necessary, specialists perform hybrid interventions using modern angiographic equipment for patients with unstable vascular access function. These procedures allow the creation of a new access point or the restoration of an existing one’s functionality, enabling the patient to continue renal replacement therapy.
