Beijing, April 14 /Xin Hua/ — China is ready to import more high-quality products from Spain and encourages a greater number of strong Chinese enterprises to invest in this country. Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Qian stated this on Tuesday.
Li Qian made appropriate statements during negotiations with the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, who is on a visit to the PRC.
As noted by the head of the Chinese government, China intends to more effectively utilize complementary economic advantages together with Spain, deepen cooperation potential, stimulate the expansion and improvement of the quality of bilateral trade, ensuring its balanced development.
According to the Premier of the State Council, China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Spain in such areas as automobiles, new energy sources, and energy storage, creating brighter points in green cooperation. He called on both sides to support universities, research institutions, and enterprises of the two countries in expanding joint research and development, and in the practical implementation of results, in order to jointly enhance the potential for scientific, technological innovation and to share opportunities for future development.
China is also ready to enhance cooperation with Spain in the field of transportation, to promote the high-quality development of China-Europe freight railway communication, and to jointly create international green shipping corridors, added Li Qian.
The head of the Chinese government expressed hope that Spain will continue to play an important role in the European Union and will contribute to the healthy development of Chinese-European trade and economic relations.
P. Sanchez, in turn, stated that the Spanish side is ready to support close political dialogue with China at a high level, strengthen strategic communication, deepen mutual understanding, expand cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, renewable energy sources, education and culture, develop tourism and humanitarian exchanges, continuously increase the stability and sustainability of bilateral relations in order to bring greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
The Prime Minister noted that Spain wants to strengthen communication and coordination with China on a multilateral platform, firmly supporting the UN and multilateralism. According to him, the Spanish side supports the strengthening of dialogue and interaction between the European Union and China and is ready to play an active role in the proper resolution of trade and economic disagreements, as well as in promoting trade and investment cooperation between the EU and China.
After the negotiations, Li Qian and P. Sanchez jointly attended the signing of a package of documents on cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, education, science and technology, agriculture and food.
