More than 65 thousand cyclists took part in the traditional autumn bike festival on September 12, exceeding the number of participants from last year. Cyclists of all ages rode through the central streets and embankments of the city, which were closed to cars.
“By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, we support Muscovites’ interest in an active and healthy lifestyle. City cycling events have become a good tradition: following the spring and night starts, the autumn cycling festival gathered more than 65 thousand participants and festively summed up the warm season,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
The route of the bike ride started at Vorobyovy Gory. Then the cyclists rode along Berezhkovskaya Embankment and the Garden Ring. The participants moved in three consecutive columns. The route featured themed music points.
In the starting town, residents and visitors of the capital could join the entertainment program. Photo zones, interactive bike simulators, a wheel of fortune, and partner gift draw areas were available for them. Those interested could have their bicycles serviced for free in mobile workshops. Dance groups, a brass band, and performers from the “Music in the Metro” project performed on the festival’s main stage. The program’s climax was a concert by the group Filatov & Karas.
