The 10th anniversary season of the program “Military Orchestras in Parks” is concluding in the capital. The project allows Muscovites and city guests to get acquainted with the traditions of Russian military orchestral art and unites the performances of musical ensembles from security agencies. In September, in parks overseen by Moscow Department of Culture, there will be four final concerts. The repertoire includes official-military music, popular ‘garden-park’ pieces, and folk songs.
The first concert will take place on September 12 in Tagansky Park. The performance will begin at 5:00 PM in the main square. The stage will feature the orchestra of the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School, one of the oldest military educational institutions in the country, founded in 1917. The ensemble provides musical accompaniment for military rituals, parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, and monument openings, as well as participating in parades on Red Square on Victory Day. The program includes wartime songs and popular compositions, including a medley of works by well-known Russian and foreign authors.
The next concert will take place on September 13 at Hodynskoye Pole Park at 16:00 on the central promenade. The Central Exemplary Concert Orchestra of the Navy named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov — one of the leading creative groups of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation — will perform here. The ensemble consists of a brass band, the vocal-instrumental ensemble “Volna,” and a group of solo vocalists. The orchestra regularly participates in the largest military celebrations, including the Victory Parade in Moscow and the Main Navy Parade in Saint Petersburg. The repertoire includes Russian and world classics, contemporary music, as well as songs about the sea, the Motherland, and the Navy.
On September 19 at 16:00, a concert by the orchestra of the Headquarters of the Central Orshansko-Khingan Order of Zhukov Red Banner District of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation will take place on the main stage in the Teply Stan landscape reserve. This ensemble is one of the oldest military musical groups in the country. It participates annually in the Victory Parade on Red Square and regularly performs at the Spasskaya Tower festival. Today, the orchestra not only preserves the traditions of the national performance school but also actively develops directions in Russian brass and pop music.
The program will conclude with a concert in the Muzeon Arts Park, which will take place on September 26 at 4:00 PM on the wooden terrace by the dry fountain. Cadets of the military institute, which trains conductors with higher musical education for law enforcement agencies, will take the stage. Over the years, the institution has produced many laureates of all-Russian and international competitions, as well as leaders of well-known musical ensembles. The program includes works by Russian and foreign composers of various eras and genres, ranging from small pieces to large-scale musical forms, including original versions and diverse arrangements.
The “Military Orchestras in Parks” program gives military musical ensembles of security agencies the opportunity to perform in open city venues. The anniversary season of the project is being held in Moscow and St. Petersburg — a total of 19 concerts are planned.
