Dmitry Chernyshenko: Comfortable conditions are being created and infrastructure is being updated in the Udmurt Republic for the development of youth talents

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the acting head of the Udmurt Republic, Olga Abramova. They discussed issues of education and science, tourism, sports, and youth policy in the region.

“The Udmurt Republic actively uses the measures of the national project ‘Youth and Children’ in the fields of education and science. The region hosts clusters of the federal project ‘Professionalism’; representatives of the region participate in championship movements in professional skills ‘Professionals’ and ‘Abilympics.’ Comfortable conditions are being created and infrastructure is being renewed to develop young people’s talents. All this prepares a strong foundation for expanding the scientific and personnel potential of the region and contributes to achieving the country’s technological leadership — a national goal set by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Events are being held and initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology are being implemented in the region, including in the direction of popular science tourism. Moreover, last year, 12 research projects with grant support from the Russian Science Foundation were launched in the Udmurt Republic.

Olga Abramova reported that in 2026, six schools were renovated in Udmurtia. In the field of additional education in the region, children’s technoparks “Quantorium” and “IT-Cube” centers have been established, attended by more than 5,000 children.

“We pay great attention to personnel training for the economy. We are building a seamless scheme ‘school – college’ or ‘university – enterprise’ so that young people have the opportunity from an early age to get acquainted with professions and understand where they want to study and work. More than 100 new workshops have been opened in the republic’s colleges, 88 of which have federal status. Students are actively involved in work at enterprises, with targeted contracts concluded with them,” said the acting head of Udmurtia.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the successes of the republic’s schoolchildren in the All-Russian Olympiad: in 2026, the Udmurtia national team won 39 diplomas of the final stage, 7 of which were winner diplomas.

He also emphasized that the improvement of engineering education and applied science is of strategic importance for strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty. Within the framework of the federal project “Professionalism,” a cluster of the nuclear industry is already operating in Udmurtia based at the Glazov Polytechnic College, and a cluster of the glass industry is being created with the participation of the Mozhginsky Agro-Industrial College.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that in recent years Udmurtia has shown steady growth in tourist flow: the total number of trips in 2025 reached about 600 thousand. Several large investment projects are being implemented in the region – the improvement of the city beach in Izhevsk, the construction of thermal complexes in Kirov Park as part of the “Cheber” resort project, as well as the creation of the ethnographic tourism complex “DondyDor” in Glazov.

“The region has enormous tourism potential. Due to the diversity of natural resources, parks, and rivers, Udmurtia is called the land of springs – this is an excellent base for ecological tourism. The homeland of the famous composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky has a vast historical and cultural heritage – more than 2,000 cultural sites. Rural and gastronomic tourism are actively developing,” noted the Deputy Chairman of the Government.

Dmitry Chernyshenko and Olga Abramova also paid attention to youth policy and sports infrastructure.

In Udmurtia, 13 youth centers have been renovated; in the first half of 2026, more than 60,000 people were involved in volunteer activities, and over 147,000 participated in patriotic projects. The total funding volume of the presidential program “Region for the Young” for the period from 2023 to 2027 is nearly 700 million rubles.

In addition, the satisfaction rate with conditions for physical education and sports in the region was 63.8%, and the provision level of sports facilities based on their simultaneous capacity was 67.7%, which is higher than the national average and the planned target. In total, about 4,000 sports facilities operate in the Republic of Udmurtia, 3 accredited regional federations for innovative sports are active, and there are 32 GTO testing centers.
