At the city art center “Moscow Workshops” of the Agency for Creative Industries (ACI), subordinate to the capital’s Department of Culture, from September 30 to December 2, the exhibition “Hotel at the Edge of the Universe” will be held. This is the final project of 35 artists — residents of the art center, participants of the third season. The curator of the exhibition is Eteri Ordzhonikidze. Everyone interested will be able to visit the exposition according to registration.
The exhibition features about 70 works created in various techniques — from painting, graphics, and ceramics to sculpture, metal objects, and digital art. They are united by a common theme — a journey through the space of the hotel. Behind each door hides an author’s room.
The exhibition route is designed as a path through spaces, each of which reveals a metaphor of human existence in its own way. Thus, in the “Lobby,” visitors are introduced to the theme of choice, which a person faces daily but rarely considers the cost of the decision made and possible alternatives. The “Winter Garden” transports one to childhood, raising the theme of memory. Here, the artists’ works are arranged according to the principle of a dream with its surreal connections and images.
In the “Rest Room,” silence appears as an independent language — artists invite us to relearn how to hear it. In the “Backyard,” the world is viewed through the order of things that remain out of sight but provide its foundation. And in the “Electric Field” room, it tells about the influence and information that a person creates themselves but cannot always control.
The “Zone of Sounds Heard for the First Time” is dedicated to attention training. The route is completed by “Mural” — an artistic statement about the time at the moment of transition, when the past is already beginning to disappear and the future has not yet taken a clear shape.
The exhibition “Hotel at the Edge of the Universe” continues the city’s work in supporting contemporary artists. Over six months, the artists received personal studios, curatorial support, and creative equipment. The exhibition hall has become a platform where their art will be seen by a wide audience.
“Moscow Workshops” is a city art center opened in May 2025 by the Agency of Creative Industries. The space combines 35 fully equipped studios, an exhibition hall, a lecture room, and a workshop area. The residents are contemporary Moscow artists who have passed a competitive selection. The art center operates as an open platform for meetings between the audience and artists, where tours and workshops are held.
The Creative Industries Agency creates conditions for the development of representatives of contemporary art, design, book publishing, the video game sector, and other fields, promotes their projects, and shapes the image of the capital as an international center of creative industries.
