In the northeast of Moscow, a block located between Dekabristov Street (house 32) and Yakushkina Street (house 6) has been landscaped. The driveway and sidewalks in the courtyard area were renovated, children’s and sports playgrounds were reconstructed, a new ice rink was equipped, parking spaces were organized, and the outdoor lighting system was modernized. This was reported by the complex of urban economy of Moscow.
The courtyard is a block enclosed by three multi-entrance residential buildings and a kindergarten. Previously, a significant part of the area was occupied by a covered parking lot and a large hockey rink. Over time, the playground equipment became outdated and worn out. Numerous informal footpaths crossed the courtyard, cars were parked chaotically, which made the driveways narrower. The lighting was also insufficient: outdated lamp fixtures were used, and some areas lacked poles altogether.
The improvement project was developed taking into account the residents’ suggestions. One of the issues concerned the large hockey rink. It was practically unused in the summer, and in winter, due to the significant area of the ice rink, it was not always possible to maintain the proper quality of the ice. During a warm winter, the rink could not be used fully. The residents proposed creating a multifunctional space that would be in demand throughout the year.
As a result, a decision was made to equip three sites: a sports site for outdoor training, a multifunctional site for football and basketball games, and a hockey site. Two workout complexes and three exercise machines were installed at the first site.
Playgrounds have also changed. In the original project version, there was supposed to be one playground for younger schoolchildren. It was planned to include various equipment such as climbing elements with ropes (a “spider”), as well as a maze, a play complex, trampolines, and swings. In addition, 12 small architectural forms were to be installed there.
After discussing the project with the residents, a decision was made to additionally arrange a separate playground for younger children. A low play complex in the form of a yellow asphalt roller, a sandbox, swings, and a seesaw were installed on it.
The pedestrian zone was also renovated. Numerous paths leading to the playgrounds and kindergarten were converted into asphalt sidewalks. The area has become accessible to people with limited mobility and residents with strollers.
Experts also reconstructed the outdoor lighting system — they installed 18 modern poles. In place of the chaotic parking lot, where previously there was space for 55 cars, an organized parking area for 75 vehicles was created.
