Specialists Moscow city utilities complex Since the beginning of the year, more than 1.1 million gas stoves in apartments have been inspected. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement. Petr Biryukov.
“Gas safety issues are under special control; every year we carry out scheduled maintenance of the entire gasified housing stock. From January to August, we checked the operability and compliance with safety requirements of more than 1.1 million gas stoves, which accounts for almost 63 percent of the total number. Minor detected malfunctions are fixed on the spot by gas workers. In case of serious violations, they definitely eliminate the safety threat and provide recommendations for further operation and repairs,” noted Petr Biryukov.
Today, over 1.8 million families in the capital use gas stoves. To ensure the equipment operates safely, it is important to conduct timely inspections.
The service life of a gas stove is on average 10–12 years. After that, the gas valves wear out, burner diffusers deform, and the insulation of the oven is compromised. It is no longer safe to use such equipment, so it must be replaced. Additionally, the gas stove must be equipped with a gas control system that shuts off the gas supply if the flame in the burner goes out. The responsibility for the proper condition and replacement of gas equipment lies with the owner or tenant of the residential premises.
Information about the dates and times of gas equipment inspections is posted in advance on the website of JSC “Mosgaz”, as well as on informational stands in the entrances and courtyards of apartment buildings.
