The reservoirs of the capital’s system are filled to the level necessary for the stable water supply of the city. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement. Pyotr Biryukov.
“Currently, the reservoirs of the Moskvoretskaya and Vazuza hydraulic systems are filled to the required levels — at 83 and 60 percent respectively. The created reserves are sufficient for the stable water supply of Moscow regardless of weather conditions,” noted Petr Biryukov.
The capital consumes nearly three million cubic meters of water daily. The length of the city’s water supply networks exceeds 13 thousand kilometers. Such a complex system requires constant monitoring. The quality of the capital’s water is assessed by approximately 200 physicochemical and biological indicators. Since the beginning of the year, specialists have conducted over 2.2 million different analyses.
Drinking water is purified at four stations: Rublyovskaya, Northern, Western, and Eastern. Specialists continuously monitor its quality around the clock and promptly adjust the technological process if necessary.
The systems providing water to the capital include 15 reservoirs located in the Moscow, Smolensk, and Tver regions. The total area of their catchment basin exceeds 50 thousand square kilometers.
