Beijing, September 9 /Xinhua/ — The Jiangbei International Airport in Chongqing /Southwest China/ announced on Tuesday that a regular passenger route between Chongqing and Almaty will open on September 24. This was reported by the news website Zhongxinwang citing data from the airport.

It is reported that the Chongqing-Almaty air route will become the first direct passenger flight between Chongqing and Central Asia. In addition, the new air route will create a more efficient and stable air channel for cultural and trade-economic exchanges between China and Kazakhstan.

Flights on the new Chongqing-Almaty air route are expected to be operated by the Kazakh airline FlyArystan. Flight FS7870 on the Chongqing-Almaty route will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, while the return flight FS7869 will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Recall that in November 2023, the intergovernmental agreement on mutual visa-free regime between China and Kazakhstan officially came into force.
