In Moscow, an autumn Tram Parade was held in honor of City Day. A column of 18 historic cars from different generations traveled from the turning loop near Kursky railway station to Sergiy Radonezhsky Street, where the celebration continued for guests and a vintage machinery exhibition opened.
From 12:00 to 17:00, Muscovites and visitors of the capital could examine legendary trams from different eras, enter their cabins, and see more than 40 vintage cars. A total of 180,000 people attended the festive events.
A rich entertainment program was prepared for the guests. On the main stage, performers from the “Music in the Metro” project, the Academic Choir of the Moscow Metro, and the band “Kraski” performed. There were also interactive zones, games, workshops, a retro photo zone, and spots with free treats on the premises.
Guests could get to the celebration either by metro or by the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD). Near the venue, a new Moscow City Railway Station “Sickle and Hammer” opened the day before, which became another convenient transfer point to city transport.
“This year, the Tram Parade was held for the third time and gathered 180 thousand Muscovites and guests of the capital. We see that interest in the history of urban transport remains consistently high. Thanks to everyone who came to the celebration. On behalf of the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, we will continue to pay special attention to the preservation of the city’s transport heritage,” said Maxim Liksutov.
The tram parade and the historical transport exhibition allow you to see how Moscow’s transport has changed over the decades, and at the same time get acquainted with its modern development.
