Georgiy Gavrilovich Matyukhin became the head of the Central Bank of the RSFSR (the future Bank of Russia) on December 25, 1990, during a difficult and pivotal era. With the abolition of the State Bank of the USSR in 1991, he led the establishment of the Bank of Russia under new conditions, heading it until 1992.
He died on September 5, 2026.
An active and responsible leader whose deep knowledge and experience were in demand in important areas of work.
