Financial news: The trading volume of precious metals on the Moscow Exchange in August increased by 2.1 times compared to August of last year — reaching 506.1 billion rubles

The total volume of precious metals transactions in the main trading mode (spot and swap) on the Moscow Exchange in August 2026 amounted to 506.1 billion rubles, increasing by 2.1 times compared to the same period last year.

Gold traditionally holds the largest share. The volume of transactions with this metal doubled year-on-year, reaching 489.5 billion rubles. The volume of operations with gold amounted to 41.8 tons, of which 14.8 tons were spot transactions and 27.0 tons were swap operations. Compared to August 2025, the volume of gold trading in physical terms increased by 1.5 times.

The trading volume of silver amounted to 14.9 billion rubles (86.3 tons), platinum – 1.1 billion rubles (231 kilograms), palladium – 668 million rubles (188 kilograms).

Platinum group metals also show high dynamics: in physical terms, compared to August 2025, the volume of platinum trading increased 3.8 times, and palladium trading increased 2.2 times.

The total number of transactions in the precious metals market on the Moscow Exchange increased 2.6 times year-on-year in August 2026, reaching 326.3 thousand.

The share of private investors in gold trading volume in August 2026 was 5.8%, silver – 31.0%, palladium – 46.3%, platinum – 35.1%.

The delivery of precious metals is carried out in non-documentary form to the metal accounts of clearing participants.
