In the capital, applications are opening for participation in the “Miss and Mister Student of Moscow” contest. Young women and men — full-time students aged 18 to 25 — are invited to participate. Applications can be submitted to the administration of their university until September 22 inclusive.
“‘Miss and Mister Student of Moscow’ is the main student project of the capital, which opens new horizons for ambitious youth. We are not just looking for the brightest, we are creating a community of leaders capable of making Moscow better. Each educational institution nominates one candidate in the categories “Miss Student of Moscow” and “Mister Student of Moscow,” as well as one additional candidate — the holder of the “Radiance of Moscow” nomination from the project “Youth of Moscow”.
The competition takes place in three stages. The qualifying round consists of a remote stage, where you need to fill out a questionnaire, and an in-person stage in the format of an open concert showcase with creative performances. During the casting, students can perform numbers of any style — from vocals and choreography to original genres, artistic reading, or instrumental performances. The concert will take place on October 1 and 2 at the multimedia space “Youth of Moscow. Star” at Vernadsky Avenue, building 14. Everyone is welcome to support the participants and become spectators. Registration will open on the portal “Moscow Youth”. Based on the jury’s evaluations, 20 people will advance to the semifinals in each category.
The semifinal is scheduled for October, where participants will face five challenges: culinary, sports, intellectual, theatrical, and dance. In the culinary stage, students will have to prepare a dish from the offered ingredients. The sports stage will test the physical fitness of the contestants, who will have to complete several standards. The intellectual stage is a quiz about Moscow, as well as tasks requiring logic and quick thinking. In the theatrical stage, participants will perform solo or in pairs on a randomly chosen theme and will create an improvised scene in a short time. The final dance challenge involves learning choreography, after which students will demonstrate the material in front of the jury. After this stage, 20 participants will advance to the final—10 people in each category.
The final test consists of two parts: a preparatory stage with rehearsals of choreography and catwalk, creation of individual performances, photo and video shooting, as well as a gala concert, which takes place in January as part of Student Days in Moscow. It is here that the jury will determine the winners.
The city competition “Miss and Mister Moscow Student” is held by the “Youth of Moscow” project of the capital Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy. The competition is aimed at identifying and supporting talented student youth, promoting creativity and sports, developing inter-university relations, and creating conditions for the self-realization of young people.
