Moscow’s technology companies are actively developing the sports sector and bringing advanced solutions to the market. Among them are participants Moscow Innovation Cluster and residents of the “Lomonosov” cluster.

“The development of the domestic sports goods and technologies industry is directly linked to the popularization of a healthy lifestyle and the creation of modern conditions for engaging in sports. Today, in the capital, about 50 participants of the Moscow Innovation Cluster and residents of the ‘Lomonosov’ cluster are developing innovative solutions for sports and active recreation. Moscow supports such companies at all stages — from idea development to testing and implementation in the real economic sector. This contributes to the development of high-tech production and the scaling of capital solutions throughout Russia,” noted Alexey Parabuchev, General Director of the Moscow Innovation Cluster.

Among the advanced solutions offered are high-tech equipment for athletes, innovative respiratory trainers, patented sports drinks and food products, a digital system for match analytics, as well as a software suite for diagnosing musculoskeletal disorders and monitoring the recovery process.

Equipment for sports activities and high-altitude climbs

The development of high-tech equipment is one of the key areas. Modern materials make training more comfortable, help athletes better endure loads, and protect against adverse external conditions.

Thus, the company “Veter Sport,” a participant in the Moscow Innovation Cluster, annually produces over 100,000 units of specialized clothing for running, triathlon, and cycling. Jerseys designed for long cycling training sessions in the sun are particularly popular. Thanks to the special fiber structure, the fabric blocks 98 percent of ultraviolet rays, while effectively wicking moisture, allowing air to pass through, and preventing body overheating.

Metropolitan manufacturers also offer solutions for extreme conditions. They enhance safety, endurance, and comfort during long expeditions and high-altitude climbs.

For example, a member of the Moscow Innovation Cluster and a resident of the Caliber technopark — the company Bask — develops innovative clothing and equipment for active recreation, travel, and extreme sports. Each new product undergoes testing in real conditions — from Arctic latitudes to the high mountainous regions of the Himalayas. Among the latest developments are ultra-durable backpacks with capacities of 45 and 60 liters. They were successfully tested during the ascent of the eight-thousander Manaslu.

Breathing trainers and sports nutrition

Another participant of the Moscow Innovation Cluster, the company “Gipox,” specializes in respiratory trainers for preparing for intense loads and high-altitude expeditions. The devices help the body adapt to conditions of reduced oxygen content, thereby increasing endurance. They simulate ascent to altitudes from 1,500 to 8,000 meters by adjusting the oxygen concentration in the air. Typically, hypoxic training begins several weeks before competitions or trips to the mountains.

Functional products also play a vital role in maintaining athletic form. Healthy snacks and drinks help quickly replenish energy reserves, support the body during periods of intense exertion, and accelerate recovery after training sessions. Scientists and participants of the Moscow Innovation Cluster are actively involved in the field of sports developments.

Thus, the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship has patented a functional drink with antioxidants. Its formula includes vitamins, taurine, Kuril tea, resveratrol, and other natural components. The drink helps reduce oxidative stress, support energy metabolism, and accelerate recovery of the body after intense exertion.

The Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after K.G. Razumovsky has introduced a patented protein bar — a convenient option for a healthy snack. Its specialty is the combination of whey protein and micellar casein. This ensures a rapid influx of amino acids immediately after training and allows the protein to be absorbed gradually over an extended period. The bar supports muscle recovery and is suitable for consumption both after sports activities and throughout the day.

Innovative solutions for hockey players and rehabilitation medicine

In Moscow, innovative solutions are being created for those connected with hockey — from equipment and gear to digital tools. For example, the company “Uchip,” a resident of the “Lomonosov” cluster, has developed the video editor “Sportkat” for team sports. With it, you can upload match recordings and create clips focusing on key moments — shots, passes, goals, player interactions, as well as obtain statistics on each athlete. The system allows marking important events on the field map and thoroughly analyzing game fragments using drawing tools. This gives coaches the ability to quickly identify mistakes and adjust tactics. Currently, “Sportkat” is used by sports clubs across the country — from Moscow to Kamchatka, including the “Torpedo” academy, MHL hockey clubs, and the FNL football league.

Modern technologies and artificial intelligence are also being applied in medical rehabilitation. A participant of the Moscow Innovation Cluster, the Zelenograd Center of Kinesitherapy, has developed the software complex “Digital Rehabilitologist.” It includes 15 machine vision-based methods for diagnosing musculoskeletal diseases and monitoring the recovery process. The mobile application collects medical history and, based on it, selects an individualized set of exercises. During training, the device’s camera records the patient’s movements, and the AI system analyzes in real time how correctly they are performed. This approach helps track recovery progress, improve exercise technique, and reduce the risk of injuries.
