An additional period for taking the Unified State Exam (USE) has begun in Moscow

Moscow school students have started taking the Unified State Exam (USE) during the additional period. The exam in Russian language will take place on September 4, and the basic level mathematics exam on September 8. On the backup day, September 25, exams will be held for both Russian language and mathematics. This was reported by the press service Moscow Department of Education and Science.

“From September 4 to 25, nearly 400 participants will take the exams. These are individuals who did not pass the Unified State Exam during the main period and did not receive a certificate, as well as those who missed the main exam deadlines or did not complete their work for a valid reason documented officially,” the agency’s press service said.

Four exam centers were organized in Moscow for taking the Unified State Exam (USE) during the additional period.

To obtain a certificate of secondary general education, students must successfully pass exams in Russian language and mathematics. Elective subjects are required for university admission.

Students are allowed to take the Unified State Exam (USE) if they have no outstanding academic debts, their annual grades in all subjects are at least satisfactory, and they have passed the final essay.

This year, over 93 thousand people took the Unified State Exam (EGE), including more than 72 thousand graduates of the year 2026. For the first time in the 25-year history of the exam, a student from school No. 1409, Ekaterina Malkova, scored 500 points across five subjects. Another six Moscow residents scored 400 points across four subjects. Thirty-six people scored 300 points on three exams, and 359 scored 200 points on two subjects. The number of 100-point results increased to 3,231.

As previously reported by the Mayor of Moscow, the quality of the capital’s education is confirmed by victories of the capital’s schoolchildren in olympiads and the results of the Unified State Exam (EGE) and the Basic State Exam (OGE). Almost half of all medals from all-Russian olympiads are won by Moscow schoolchildren, and two-thirds of the awards at international subject competitions are also held by Muscovites. The integral average score of the EGE in Moscow is already eight points higher than in the country as a whole.
