On the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Mongolia Nyam-Osoryn Uchral.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Russian-Mongolian trade and economic cooperation, which received new impetus after the entry into force of the Temporary Trade Agreement between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia, joint work on strengthening transport connectivity in Eurasia, as well as the implementation of a number of joint projects in the fields of energy and industry.
Alexey Overchuk noted that Mongolia occupies an important place in Russia’s trade relations. Over the past five years, Russia’s trade volume with Mongolia has increased 1.4 times – from 1.9 billion to 2.7 billion dollars. By the end of 2025, the turnover had grown by 4.5% and reached 2.7 billion dollars. In 2026, the turnover continues to grow: in the first half of the current year, mutual trade increased by 18.1%.
Special attention during the meeting was given to the preparation for the second Forum of the Regions of Russia and Mongolia, which will take place on September 14–15 in Ulaanbaatar. The Russian delegation at the forum will be headed by Alexey Overchuk. The forum’s program is dedicated to strengthening the transport connectivity between Russia and Mongolia, the role of regions in the development of Eurasian transport corridors, and cooperation in developing the Eurasian tourist space. Concurrently with the second Forum of the Regions of Russia and Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, the first Russian-Mongolian Media Forum will also be held, as well as the first meeting of the Joint Committee on implementing the trade agreement with the EAEU.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, the parties confirmed their mutual commitment to the further progressive development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Mongolia and agreed to continue the established regular and systematic dialogue between the governments.
