G. Luoyang is located in the west of Henan Province /Central China/, on the banks of the Luo River – a tributary of the Yellow River. It is a well-known cultural and historical center of the country, one of the cradles of Chinese civilization.

According to legend, the city was founded in 1108 BC. Luoyang was the capital of 7 dynasties: Eastern Zhou (770–256 BC), Eastern Han (25–220 AD), Western Jin (265–316 AD), Northern Wei (386–534 AD), Late Tang (923–936 AD).

A large number of historical and artistic monuments were preserved in the territory of Loyan. Especially famous is the temple of Baima built in 68 AD — one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the country — and the cave-temple complex of Lunmen (5th-9th centuries), which is included by UNESCO in the World Heritage List.
