In the project “Active Citizen” openly voting, dedicated to the new design of the Moskvia card. The update of its visual appearance is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the project, the city authorities said Department of Information Technology.

The ability to personalize the card design is one of the most frequent requests in recent years. We suggest letting the city residents themselves decide what these six options will be. The users of the ‘Active Citizen’ project are presented with 24 design versions to choose from. All these images are dedicated to Moscow, its spirituality, identity, and convey a unique cultural code,” said Olesya Kuzmina, head of the ‘Moscow Card’ project at the city’s Department of Information Technologies.
The voting consists of three questions. In the first, users are asked to choose two design options from a series dedicated to the capital’s architecture. The design is based on patterns with encrypted fragments of Moscow architecture. Ornaments, friezes, and bas-reliefs of recognizable objects were used to create them, including the Izmailovsky Kremlin, Savvinskoye Podvorye, and the mansion of Arseny Morozov. The compositions combine elements from different eras and architectural styles, so each pattern conveys the history and cultural code of Moscow in its own way.
In the second question, voters will choose two options from the series dedicated to the Moscow River — one of the main transport arteries, as well as one of the recognizable symbols of the capital. Designers used fragments of the river’s winding flow and transformed them into an abstract graphic code. According to the authors’ concept, such a design conveys the movement and energy of the city.
Two more variants will be decided in the third question. The designs are created based on the popular works of participants in the children’s drawing contest “Create a new Moscow citizen’s card,” held in 2025. Young artists imagined how characters from favorite fairy tales could appear in the capital. On the front side of the card, the Firebird, Ivan Tsarevich, Baba Yaga, and other heroes can be placed.

Muscovite Card — a personalized plastic card that provides access to city support measures. With it, you can travel for free or at a discounted rate on transport, receive discounts and special offers from program loyalty partners. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Muscovite card. Approximately one million people receive it annually, and the total number of holders is about five million. Project “Active Citizen” has been operating since 2014. During this time, more than seven million people have joined it, and over 7,900 votes have been held in total.
