In 2020, specialists Research Institute of Health Organization and Medical Management capital Department of Health created a digital platform “Moscow Medicine. Events”. Today, this modern educational platform makes expert knowledge accessible and fosters professional communications, connecting medical specialists from Moscow and other regions of Russia. Centers of competence have been established, hospital buildings are being renovated, and specialists have access to the most modern medical equipment. In 2025, the platform hosted more than 200 online events, with over 1,200 speakers participating. Representatives from more than 550 localities in Russia join the broadcasts, and the listener geography grows every year.
Among the most in-demand fields are therapy, general medical practice, and toxicology. The platform also hosts discussions dedicated to surgery, infectious diseases, clinical laboratory diagnostics, clinical pharmacology, and other areas.
In addition, the digital platform regularly hosts a series of events from the scientific and educational project “Eurasian School of Toxicologists,” initiated by Anastasia Simonova, the chief toxicologist of Moscow. The topics are dedicated to issues of diagnosis and treatment of acute poisonings, and they also include case studies that offer educational value for specialists of various profiles — from therapists and gastroenterologists to anesthesiologists and allergists.
“It is important for a doctor to constantly update their knowledge. The digital format allows obtaining up-to-date information regardless of the region and becoming familiar with the practical experience of colleagues. Patients often arrive at the intensive care unit with an unknown medical history and a rapidly changing clinical picture, and doctors need to promptly determine the cause of such a condition. We cover all of this in our webinars, which are available to doctors of any specialty from any region,” said Anastasia Simonova.
Sergey Zyryanov, the chief specialist in clinical research of Moscow, emphasized that digital formats expand the possibilities for professional interaction. Medicine is developing very rapidly, so continuous learning becomes a part of a doctor’s work. The platform provides the opportunity to choose relevant topics, receive expert knowledge, and exchange experience with colleagues from anywhere in the country. Until recently, specialists had to attend conferences or master classes in person, which was not always convenient. Now, without leaving their computer or phone, any medical worker can join a major professional event, ask questions in the chat, and express their own opinion, he added.
To date, centers of competence have been established in the capital in areas such as oncology, rheumatology, gynecology, nephrology, and others. This has made it possible to concentrate large flows of patients in medical institutions, accumulate extensive practice and knowledge bases, create clinical guidelines, and develop patient pathways. Moscow doctors are ready to share their unique experience with colleagues from the regions. Digital technologies, in particular, facilitate communication, save time, and help expand the knowledge of everyone interested.
One of the important advantages of a specialized center based on a multidisciplinary hospital is the possibility of practical implementation of a multidisciplinary approach in patient management, believes Alena Zagrebtseva, the chief rheumatologist of Moscow, head of the Moscow City Scientific and Practical Center for Systemic Immunoinflammatory Rheumatological and Autoinflammatory Diseases at the Moscow Clinical Scientific Research Center “Hospital 52.” Interdisciplinary consultations and constant data exchange at both inpatient and outpatient levels have, in her opinion, become routine practice for the capital’s doctors. If necessary, specialists can engage any intellectual and technological capabilities of the clinic to treat the patient. Thanks to specialized centers, Moscow has accumulated enormous clinical experience that it is ready to share with colleagues from other cities in Russia.
