Yuri Trutnev: The Exhibition “Far East Street” Opened at the XI Eastern Economic Forum

The solemn opening ceremony of the exhibition “Far East Street” titled “Far East – unity in our hearts” took place within the framework of the XI Eastern Economic Forum. On the embankment of Ajax Bay, pavilions are presented by all 11 regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, as well as federal ministries and organizations. The exhibition organizer is the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District.

“Dear participants of the Eastern Economic Forum! In 2015, we opened the ‘Far East Street’ for the first time. Back then, people asked: why all this trouble? Why the extra work? But we proved that we must show why we love the Far East, why we are proud of it. Obviously, this is only the show side. In Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai, on Sakhalin and Kamchatka, in Yakutia and Buryatia, investments were attracted, jobs were created, enterprises were built. Today, these figures have become the patrimony of our entire country: 1,118 new enterprises, 6.8 trillion rubles of attracted investments, 190 thousand new jobs. Together, we have created a new Far East. I want to thank all those who are carrying out and have carried out this work. These are the heads of the regions and the residents of the territories: workers, builders, teachers, doctors, and many others. Deep respect and thanks to everyone,” said the Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum Yuri Trutnev.

As part of the opening of the ‘Far East Street,’ artists from the Far Eastern regions performed the choreographic suite ‘We are the Far East’ accompanied by the combined show ballet of the Primorsky Krai, the honored collective of Primorsky Krai, the exemplary choreographic ensemble ‘Alisa.’ In addition, guests of the event were presented with the vocal and choreographic composition ‘Russian Soul,’ performed by vocalists from 11 regions of the Far East.

“Every year, the ‘Far East Street’ provides an opportunity to see what the macroregion is living by and what changes are happening in its territory. It is important for us to showcase the achievements of the regions and their uniqueness – the history, traditions, and diversity of the peoples of the Far East. Behind major projects, new technologies, the development of tourism and culture, there are always people who create and develop their regions. This year, declared by the President as the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, it is especially important to emphasize the diversity of cultures and traditions that are part of the common heritage of our country. Ultimately, it is precisely from such stories that a general understanding of the Far East and its role in the development of the entire country is formed,” emphasized Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russia and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and conduct of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“Every year, the regions of the Far East discover new aspects of their lands, their culture, their traditions, and their future, which they showcase at the ‘Far East Street.’ This year, I believe they have reached a new level. Most importantly, a healthy spirit of competition thrives among the regions of the Far East. There is love among the teams who create these amazing pavilions. Everyone is welcome,” said Alexey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.

The exhibition features displays on the achievements, investment opportunities, and cultural heritage of the Far Eastern regions. The Amur Region will present Russian-Chinese cooperation, space, energy, and agriculture; Buryatia will showcase tourism, culture, natural resources, and investments in the pavilion “Baikal. Buryatia. Center of Attraction”; Yakutia will highlight natural and cultural heritage, technologies, and tourism in the exposition “For Happiness to Yakutia.” Primorsky Krai will build a pavilion on the theme “Yesterday – Today – Tomorrow,” and the Jewish Autonomous Region will present its industrial, agricultural, logistical, and tourist potential.

Kamchatka Krai will present an updated pavilion designed as a submarine, dedicated to the history of Vilyuchinsk and the 120th anniversary of the Russian submarine fleet. Khabarovsk Krai will tell about industrial development, urban projects, tourism, and international cooperation; Sakhalin Oblast about investment and social projects, the history and culture of the region, as well as the development of unmanned aviation; Magadan Oblast about the culture and traditions of indigenous peoples; Chukotka about the cultural heritage and traditions of the indigenous peoples of the North; and Zabaykalsky Krai about city development, tourism, and the cultural heritage of the region.

This year, one of the main themes of the “Far East Street” will be the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. It will be expressed through cultural programs of the regions and acquaintance with the traditions of the peoples of the Far East. In particular, the pavilion of Primorsky Krai will host performances by the ensembles “Yaritsa” and “Plyasun’ya,” Buryatia will present the “Altargana” festival, works of decorative and applied arts masters, and national sports, and Chukotka – the ensemble “Ergyron” and master classes on bone carving art from the masters of the Uelen bone carving workshop.

The site also features thematic spaces of federal authorities and organizations. Among them are the “House of Sports” and “GTO Arena” of the Russian Ministry of Sport, the “Developing the Far East” pavilion of the Ministry for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic and the Far East Development Corporation, the “Falcon House” space, and the venues of the “Warrior” center.

Guests and participants of the exhibition can also look forward to a rich cultural and educational program. Concerts, performances by creative groups, master classes, presentations, and other events will take place at the regional venues and the central stage of the “Far East Street.”

In addition, at the “Far East Street” venue, there is an exhibition of photographic works by participants of the All-Russian contest for the best travel in the Far East and the Arctic titled “Far East – Land of Adventures.” It features photographs from the first three seasons of the contest, taken during the filming of video materials for short films about travels across the macro-region or the Arctic. The photographs are also displayed at Vladivostok Airport and at the Revolution Fighters’ Square.

The 11th Eastern Economic Forum is taking place from September 1 to 4 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. The exhibition “Far East Street” is open to forum participants during the event, and from September 5 to 7 it will be accessible to everyone interested. The organizer of the EEF is the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of Russia.
