Beijing, September 1 /Xinhua/ — The border troops of China, Russia, and Mongolia will hold joint exercises for the second time in early September, the Chinese Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday.
Exercises under the code name “Border Cooperation-2026” will be primarily dedicated to the prevention and suppression of reconnaissance and sabotage activities in border areas. The exercises will include training in joint planning, joint search, joint strikes and detention, as well as joint transfer of suspects, according to the ministry’s press release.
The purpose of the exercises is to further strengthen strategic mutual trust, deepen cooperation in border protection, and jointly maintain security and stability in border areas, the statement said.
The first such exercises took place in September 2025.
