Moscow, April 12 /Xin Hua/ — Presidents of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Iran Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the latest events in the Middle East during a telephone conversation. The Kremlin press service reported this on Sunday.
“The President of Iran gave an assessment of the Iran-American negotiations that took place on April 11 in Islamabad, expressed gratitude for the principled Russian position, including on the international platform aimed at de-escalating the situation. Masoud Pezeshkian also thanked Russia for providing humanitarian assistance to the Iranian people,” the statement says.
V. Putin announced Moscow’s readiness to assist in the political-diplomatic settlement of the conflict in the Middle East and to actively engage for this purpose with all partners in the region.
“When discussing current issues of bilateral cooperation, a mutual intention to further comprehensive strengthening of good-neighborly Russian-Iranian relations was confirmed,” the statement notes.
The Kremlin press service added that M. Pezeshkian congratulated V. Putin and all Orthodox Christians in Russia on the holiday of Easter.
