Before the start of the heating season, specialists urban infrastructure complex additional temperature tests of the heating networks were carried out in the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Pyotr Biryukov.
“By August 31, employees of PJSC ‘MOEK’ organized tests of the maximum heat carrier temperature on the main heating networks. This way, they checked the readiness of the pipelines to withstand increased loads on the equipment during the peaks of winter cold,” said Petr Biryukov.
Temperature tests allow checking the reliability of the heat supply system by means of intense heating. During such a rapid test, the temperature of the heat carrier is raised to 150 degrees. When heating and cooling the metal walls of the pipelines, potentially unreliable areas are revealed that were not detected during hydraulic tests. This allows them to be repaired before the heating season begins and ensures uninterrupted heat supply to consumers.
Tests were conducted on more than nine thousand kilometers of main heating networks. In total, over 74 thousand buildings will be prepared in the capital for the autumn-winter period, including more than 34 thousand apartment buildings.
