Specialists city utilities complex they are landscaping the area near Volokolamskaya station of the second Moscow Central Diameters (MCD-2) in the Mitino district. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Pyotr Biryukov.
The main task is to create convenient routes for pedestrians from residential buildings to the transport facility, as well as to make the space more modern and functional.
The overhead lines were put underground into cable ducts, which allowed improving the visual appearance of the area and ensuring the safe operation of communications. In addition, a stormwater drainage system was additionally installed.
“As part of the project, we expanded the sidewalks and replaced their surface covering an area of 12,300 square meters. On the roadway, we will lay 19,200 square meters of asphalt, apply road markings, and install traffic signs. Quality lighting is a necessary condition for a comfortable urban environment, so we installed nearly 250 lamps with energy-efficient fixtures. Unregulated pedestrian crossings will be equipped with poles with contrast lighting, which will make both the zebra crossing and the pedestrian on it more visible to drivers at night,” noted Petr Biryukov.
Seven modern bus shelters with charging slots have been installed for passengers of surface urban transport. Specialists are currently setting up benches, bike racks, and navigation pillars.
“Improving the area near Volokolamskaya station is a strategic step in developing the transport framework of northwest Moscow. We have completely revised passenger traffic: now for those traveling from the Moscow region via MCD-2, the journey to the metro and buses will become faster and more comfortable thanks to the reduced distance and the creation of intuitive routes,” added the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
A key transportation benefit of the project will be the placement of surface urban transport stops in close proximity to the entrance of the vestibule, allowing passengers to make transfers in just a couple of minutes.
In addition, near the Volokolamskaya station of the MCC-2, a new attraction for local residents has appeared — a sports cluster at the intersection of Novotushinskaya Street and the street of the same name. There, a skate park and a volleyball-basketball court have been set up, as well as tables for playing ping-pong.
Greening is an essential component of all capital improvement projects. Near the station, a lawn of almost 43,000 square meters will be laid out, and trees and shrubs will also be planted.
