Today, August 31, Sergey Kogogin, CEO of PJSC KAMAZ, took part in the launching ceremony of the construction of a digital plant for the production of high-efficiency transfer cases for trucks. The event was also attended by Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov, and Governor of Saratov Oblast Roman Busargin.
The project being implemented in Saratov within the territory of the Stolypinsky Industrial Park is strategically significant for the automotive industry and the transport sector of the Russian Federation, given its substantial contribution to strengthening technological sovereignty, developing related industries, and improving the reliability of operating domestically produced vehicles, including specialized equipment. The new plant plans to produce a new generation of transfer cases weighing 320 kg with an extended service life of 800,000 km. The family of heavy gearboxes will be manufactured for KAMAZ vehicles of the K5 generation, Ural trucks, and MAZ vehicles.
The plant with a design capacity of up to 30,000 boxes per year will be equipped with an automated production line: modern high-precision mechanical processing, robotic installation and removal of parts, automated assembly, digital twins of technological systems, and robotic painting. The implementation of intelligent management will allow centralized control of production lines, engineering communications, and the building as a whole. Integrated information security systems and automated planning and accounting systems combined with unmanned delivery of parts and components across the plant territory and an automated warehouse will ensure high technological sophistication of the project. The development of the benchmark model of the “Digital Factory” can be scaled to other engineering enterprises in the Saratov region.
The construction of the plant will have a significant impact on the socio-economic development of the Saratov region, including attracting investments to the region in 2026-2029 estimated at approximately 24.2 billion rubles. New high-productivity jobs will be created.
“This project is our response to the challenges of the times, our next step towards strengthening technological sovereignty and providing Russian industry with in-demand, highly efficient automotive components. Moreover, the launch of the new plant provides a synergistic effect in the context of creating new logistics connections and supply chains, which will also provide employment for small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. The opening of the new plant will allow for the creation of at least 350 new jobs just in the main production, noted General Director of PJSC KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin.
“Creating a digital factory, a high-tech production facility, is a good response to those who want to stop Russia’s development. For us, this is an important production also because Saratov was formed as a city where the traditions of training professional personnel are strong. Therefore, the robotic enterprise that this digital factory will be is an opportunity for hundreds of people to realize themselves in this production” – said Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
“The president set the task in 2022 to replace all critical automotive components for cars produced in Russia. The plant we are laying down today is one of the additional steps towards moving to a new level of localization and import substitution in the production of modern transfer cases at a unique digital factory. This is extremely important for us. Over these years, we have already invested more than 130 billion rubles in the development of the automotive components industry, thanks to the Industrial Development Fund and other support measures.” – in turn, gave the figures Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov. He also emphasized the industry’s high multiplier, noting that the construction of a new plant in the Saratov region will create a large number of jobs.
