More than 9.7 billion rubles will be additionally allocated from the Cabinet’s reserve fund to subsidize agricultural product rail transport at preferential tariffs. This order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Federal funds will allow reimbursement of railway workers’ expenses for transporting agro-industrial products at preferential rates, maintaining stability in the domestic market of agricultural raw materials and food, and fully fulfilling export obligations given the current situation in the Azov-Black Sea basin.
“It is important that the Ministry of Agriculture continues to respond promptly to emergency situations and, if necessary, is ready to assist both agricultural producers and regions,” emphasized Mikhail Mishustin, speaking about the decision made at at the Government meeting on August 27.
State support for railway transportation of agricultural products began in 2019. It involves subsidies to carriers to compensate for losses incurred due to the establishment of preferential rates for transporting such products. Transportation at a preferential rate includes all types of cargo shipments – both in wagons and in containers.
