Specialists urban economy complex carried out the current repair of the Tushino transport tunnel (Novovolokolamsky-1) in the northwest of the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“Special attention is paid to the maintenance of engineering structures; all facilities undergo regular inspections, and if necessary, a decision is made to perform major or current repairs. The repair of the Tushino tunnel (Novovolokolamsky-1), which runs under the Moscow Canal on Volokolamsk highway, has been completed. The work was divided into two stages and carried out simultaneously from both sides of the structure,” noted Petr Biryukov.
Traffic was not completely closed during the repair — lane closures were introduced in stages.
In the tunnel, a new type of ‘gable’ wall cladding was installed: first, a metal frame was mounted, to which cladding panels were attached. This system improves the aesthetic appearance of the structure, ensures the necessary moisture resistance, and extends the service life of the constructions. The total area of the work exceeded five thousand square meters.
Over the past 14 years, every structure of the capital’s bridge infrastructure has undergone various types of repairs. This allows for an extended service life and creates more comfortable conditions for drivers and pedestrians.
