“Moscow consumes nearly three million cubic meters of water daily. The capital has about 13 thousand kilometers of water supply networks. This complex system requires constant monitoring and, if necessary, prompt adjustment of parameters. Since the beginning of the year, more than 2.2 million various studies have already been conducted, once again confirming that the water flowing to Muscovites’ taps meets all requirements and standards,” noted Petr Biryukov.
He reminded that currently the condition of city water is analyzed according to the maximum number of physico-chemical and biological indicators, totaling 200.
Water quality is monitored by specialists throughout its entire journey — at the water source, at water treatment plants, and in the distribution network. Instruments continuously track changes in the main water composition indicators around the clock. Data from the analyzers is fed into a unified information system that allows for prompt decision-making regarding changes in the technological modes of purification.
In addition to laboratory studies, more than 600 automatic monitoring devices help keep track of water quality in real time. The results of their analyses are transmitted to the capital’s social and hygienic monitoring system.
