By order of the President, the Government continues work to ease the debt burden of the regions. An order has been signed to write off two-thirds of the budget loan debt for the Tomsk and Yaroslavl regions, totaling over 4.9 billion rubles.

These freed-up resources will allow these regions to focus on the implementation of promising projects, creating favorable conditions for business operations, as well as forming a comfortable environment for citizens.
“We expect that this will strengthen the economic base of the regions, help them in implementing key programs,” noted Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on at the Government meeting on August 27.
He also recalled that over the past two and a half years, the Government has established a systematic approach in this area. More than 70 regions have already taken advantage of the opportunity to write off debts on budget loans, additionally investing over a quarter of a trillion rubles in their economies. Necessary funding was received for a number of initiatives, including the renewal of public transport, resettlement from emergency housing, and the construction of communal infrastructure.
