Dmitry Chernyshenko: The Flow of Vietnamese Tourists to Russia Has Increased by 35.7%

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi. They discussed cooperation between the countries in various fields, including tourism, trade, and the financial sector.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that this year the 26th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Vietnamese Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation is planned to be held in Hanoi in November.

“Vietnam is our reliable partner in the region. We are united by traditions of strong friendship, mutual assistance, and deep trust. This is confirmed by meetings at the highest level between President Vladimir Putin and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, President Tho Lam. The relations between the countries are developing in various directions. We see good dynamics in tourism. Vietnamese tourists actively come to us: the tourist flow has increased by 35.7%. The increase in the number of flights and the expansion of flight geography have also had a positive effect, and electronic visas are also available to Vietnamese citizens,” said Deputy Prime Minister, Co-Chairman of the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, Dmitry Chernyshenko.

In 2025, through joint efforts, an additional 31 flights were launched on 15 new routes to Vietnamese cities Nha Trang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, as well as to Phu Quoc Island.

This year, in half a year, the tourist flow from Vietnam to Russia increased by 21.4%. More than 863 thousand Russians visited Vietnam in 6 months — almost 1.5 times more than last year. In 2025, the Russian tourist flow to Vietnam nearly doubled and amounted to 690 thousand people.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister noted progress in the development of financial and banking relations between the countries. QR-code payments have been launched for Russian tourists in Vietnam. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the entry into force of the EAEU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. The mechanism has proven to be effective and has significantly increased trade turnover between the countries.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation, Dang Minh Khoi, thanked the Russian Deputy Prime Minister for the meeting and conveyed greetings from the First Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Co-Chairman of the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Pham Gia Tuc.

“The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President To Lam, speaks positively about the cooperation between the countries. He believes that the relationship between Russia and Vietnam should serve as an example of relations between countries around the world. Russia is one of Vietnam’s key partners in implementing the foreign policy course of the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam,” said Dang Minh Khoi.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia also took part in the meeting.
