The State University of Management is participating in the business program of the 30th anniversary international exhibition MIMS Automobility, which is being held from August 25 to 28 in Saint Petersburg. The largest industry event in the field of automotive components, equipment, and after-sales service has brought together experts and business representatives from Russia and other countries.

GUU at the exhibition is represented by junior research associate Roman Sudorgin from the Laboratory of Digital and Individual Mobility. He spoke at the round table «A step forward in the auto parts market: brand or private label, digital technologies or “word of mouth”” and spoke about how changes in logistics affect the automotive spare parts market.

How logistics is changing the auto parts market

In his report “Logistics as a factor of competitiveness: why changes in supply chains increase the importance of private labels Roman Sudorgin presented long-term trends and forecasts for the development of the auto parts and logistics market.

Today, the automotive market is simultaneously facing two notable processes: supply chains are becoming more complex, and the average age of vehicles is increasing. Under these conditions, consumer behavior is also changing — vehicle owners are increasingly considering alternatives to original components and paying attention to private labels (PLs).

One of the key factors of competitiveness in such a situation is logistics. The final price of auto parts and their availability to customers directly depend on the cost and speed of delivery.

The report paid special attention to digital tools that allow optimizing logistics processes. In particular, Roman Sudorgin examined the capabilities of transport company comparison services using the example of Main Transport. Such solutions help to compare carriers’ conditions and choose the best options in terms of cost and delivery times.

A platform for dialogue between science and the automotive industry

MIMS Automobility brings together car parts manufacturers, equipment suppliers, distributors, representatives of car service centers and trading companies, corporate fleets, marketplaces, and other market participants for four days.

In 2026, the exhibition features more than 1,400 companies from Russia, China, Turkey, India, the UAE, South Korea, and other countries.

At the core of the business program are the most relevant issues for the automotive industry: business digitalization, development of the auto components market, logistics, human resources, interaction with marketplaces, service maintenance, and the search for new growth opportunities.

Participation of GUU in MIMS Automobility allows presenting the university’s scientific developments and expert assessments to the professional community and incorporating the research agenda into the discussion of real changes currently occurring in the automotive market.
