Lhasa, August 26 /Xinhua/ — Temporary bilateral traffic restrictions have been imposed on roads leading to the Zhilong checkpoint in the Xizang Autonomous Region (Southwest China) after a landslide occurred near the border crossing on Wednesday morning. This was reported by local road services.
According to local authorities, all roads leading to the checkpoint from the town of Zhilun are closed to motor vehicles, except for emergency services. The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
As noted by the disaster management bureau of the Jilong County in the Shigatse Prefecture, restrictions were imposed after a landslide made the roads in the checkpoint area unsafe for travel and disrupted road transport, communication, and power supply on the Chinese side of the border crossing. –0–
