An international engineering class will be established at a secondary school in Ouagadougou — the capital of Burkina Faso. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Education of Burkina Faso. This was announced by the rector of NSU, a corresponding member Dmitry Pyshny, at the panel session “African Personnel for African Countries,” held within the framework of the international technological development forum “Technoprom-2026.”
The competition for studying in the first international engineering class involved 600 schoolchildren, more than 30 of whom were selected. Currently, the students have been studying Russian for almost a year, and in the following two years they will undergo training in natural science profiles — mathematics, physics, and robotics. Furthermore, the students who demonstrate the best results will be able to continue their education at NSU under a quota from the Government of the Russian Federation.

NSU, with the support of the Center for People’s Diplomacy, has been actively working on building cooperation with West African countries since 2024. Two years ago, the first “Russia-Africa” forum was held as part of “Technoprom,” during which a consortium of Russian universities developing cooperation with African countries was created; it currently includes 34 educational institutions.
NSU has already signed cooperation agreements with universities from Burkina Faso, Niger, the Republic of Chad, and Guinea-Bissau. In the 2025-2026 academic year, NSU will hold two school Olympiads in West African countries — the All-Siberian Mathematics Olympiad and “Your Path to Real Science” in Physics.
