General Director of KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin and his first deputy – Executive Director Irek Gumerov held a meeting on the quality issues of K5 generation trucks. The working meeting took place directly at the Automotive Plant production site.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Deputy General Director’s Block (DGDB) – Development Director and DGDB – Executive Director, as well as the company’s plant managers. The focus was on the units and parts of the KAMAZ-54901 tractor truck, the liquefied natural gas variant of the same model, and the heavy-duty K5 family vehicles. The working group discussed issues concerning the transfer case, fifth wheel coupling, pistons, and the pneumatic suspension control unit. The chief designer of the automotive giant – director of the R&D center Evgeny Makarov reported that an instruction has been developed for service centers on how to replace the crankshaft seal without removing the powertrain from the truck, if necessary.
“Reliability is the foundation of our car, – noted Sergey Kogogin. – Over the past four years, we have gone through a difficult path in terms of import substitution of auto components. Unfortunately, production localization does not happen quickly. But our main problem now is in choosing suppliers, verifying interactions with them, and studying the products. To achieve a high level of quality, we spend quite a lot of time. We solve some of the production problems ourselves, and some are handled by the suppliers.“. After the meeting, the head of KAMAZ, together with the first deputy, the chief designer of the automotive giant, and the director of the Automobile Plant Dmitry Borodinov, inspected the K5 generation trucks that had rolled off the assembly line and discussed current issues.
