Lanzhou, August 25 /Xinhua/ — Uzbek citizen Olima Vokhidova returned to her workplace after completing a summer study internship in China. From July 20 to August 11, she participated with other attendees in a summer camp as part of the 2026 Chinese government international scholarship program, where she studied advanced methods of clinical diagnosis and treatment, as well as traditional Chinese medicine.
Olyma Vokhidova, head of the international relations department at Bukhara State Medical Institute, underwent a short-term internship at the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University in the city of Lanzhou /Gansu Province, Northwest China/. This hospital is also a clinical medical institute affiliated with Lanzhou University. The event combined classroom sessions with clinical practice and involved seven medical students and three teachers from Uzbekistan.
Under the guidance of Chinese doctors, students observed clinical treatment, mastered medical skills, studied advanced technologies, including the use of surgical robots and ophthalmic operations with 3D navigation, as well as got practical experience with traditional Chinese medicine methods such as “balance of yin and yang” and “diagnosis and treatment based on the differentiation of symptoms and signs,” and also practiced acupuncture and vacuum therapy techniques.
Olima Vokhidova noted that the healthcare system here makes a deep impression. The medical staff take great care of patients, applying various surgical approaches depending on the specific disease.
A student of the Andijan branch of Kokand University of Uzbekistan, Mubinakhon Tuychieva, said that Chinese doctors introduced us to advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, thoroughly training us in working with modern medical equipment. Clinical training at the hospital is organized at a high level. Chinese doctors explain in detail all stages, from standard preoperative preparation to the techniques of performing surgical operations, demonstrating every step to us.
The director of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University, Zhou Wencai, stated that this internship project is an important part of the hospital’s efforts to expand international cooperation in medical education and to strengthen exchanges between China and Uzbekistan in the fields of medical education, clinical practice, and scientific research. He emphasized that the project will create more opportunities to deepen cooperation and exchange of experience among young medical professionals from both countries. -0-
