In the project “Moscow Longevity» a new direction will appear — “Fragrance Laboratory.” Participants will get acquainted with the basics of the art of perfumery, learn to distinguish and combine aromatic notes, and then create a unique perfume composition.
The program will bring together older Muscovites whose professional or personal history is connected with perfumery. Under the guidance of an expert, they will undergo training and create a signature fragrance of “Moscow Longevity,” which will convey the character of the project through scent.
“The ‘Moscow Longevity’ project is constantly evolving, and we strive to offer participants new formats that meet their needs and interests. One of these is the ‘Fragrance Laboratory,’ where older Muscovites will not only get acquainted with the art of perfumery but also create the project’s signature scent, a unique composition conveying its character through smell. Participants will be able to undergo training under the guidance of a professional expert, learn the basics of perfume composition, and collaboratively develop their own fragrance. This combination of creative practice and professional mentorship helps the older generation not only acquire new knowledge but also become co-authors of a unique cultural product,” she said.

How to get into the “Fragrance Laboratory”
On project website Applications are now open. Participants will be invited to share their professional experience in perfume production, family history, long-standing passion for fragrances, or collecting. The application will include a short questionnaire and a brief creative essay. The main selection criterion will be the person’s connection to perfumery, their knowledge, and interest in this field.
In addition, you can get into the laboratory by signing up for open classes. On August 27 in Moscow Longevity Center “Sokolniki” will hold three master classes: at 11:00, 13:00, and 15:00. Participants will get acquainted with monoaromatics and professional ingredients, try to identify them by smell and create simple combinations, learn the stories behind the creation of famous perfumes, and understand how individual notes come together into a complete composition. After the session, those interested will be able to complete a test assignment and apply for a place in the laboratory.
Participants will create the scent of “Moscow Longevity”
As a result of the selection, 11 older Muscovites will become participants of the “Scent Laboratory.” The finalists will undergo theoretical and practical training under the guidance of perfumery stylist and La Niche project producer Natalia Cherkasova. They will study the structure of perfume composition, the main groups of notes and the principles of their combination, learn to work with concentrations and create accords, and convey images and emotions through scent. A separate section will be dedicated to the connection between aromas and memory, associations, and a person’s mood.
The main task is to create a unified aroma of “Moscow Longevity.” Together with the curator, the participants will try to determine which notes can convey the image of the modern capital, the energy of an active life, movement, creativity, communication, and accumulated experience. They will choose ingredients, create chords, experiment with combinations, and test different versions until they arrive at a common formula.
