In the capital, enrollment has begun for groups preparing for the All-Russian School Olympiad. The entrance exams for the Moscow teams will be held in September, and applications are already open. Classes are organized in all 28 subjects presented at the Olympiad, as well as in Arabic from the Moscow School Olympiad program. About 20,000 students will begin preparation. “The format of the tests depends on the chosen discipline — it can be either testing or an online interview. The classes are designed for students with different levels of preparation: they will suit both those who have already achieved high results in competitions and those who are just starting their olympiad journey. After enrolling students, they will be divided into groups based on the difficulty level — depending on how successfully they passed the selection,” the department’s press service said.
As part of the preparation for the school Olympiad, seminars, off-site intensives, and online courses are expected. The programs vary depending on the chosen subject. For example, astronomy team students attend classes at the Museum of Cosmonautics and conduct observations at the Moscow Planetarium. For participants in the geography team, meteorological, geomorphological, and hydrological practices are conducted in collaboration with Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).
A plan of classes on forensic science has been developed for training the law team during the camp, where students imagine themselves as detectives. Participants in the labor olympiad engage in 3D modeling, manual wood processing, and laser engraving work.
During the academic year, the mentors for the students will be national team coaches, methodologists from the Center for Pedagogical Excellence (CPE), and lecturers from leading universities, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
In addition, in September there will be presentations and master classes where you can meet the national team coaches. For example, on September 18th at the Patrice Lumumba Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship, there will be a foreign language team festival, and on September 20th at the Museum of Cosmonautics — an astronomy celebration. The main selection of candidates for the national teams will take place in the fall. Subsequently, additional participants can join if there are vacancies and high results at the initial stages of the All-Russian Olympiad. The final composition of the teams will be determined in the spring of 2027 after the regional stage.

The All-Russian Schoolchildren Olympiad is the country’s largest intellectual competition, held throughout the entire academic year. Participants can expect school, municipal, regional, and final stages.
In the 2025/2026 academic year, the capital’s team won a record 1,972 diplomas at the final stage of the Olympiad, which is 109 more than the previous year. Winners and prize-winners were students from 275 educational institutions in Moscow. Diploma recipients of the competition final can enter any university without exams in fields corresponding to the competition profile.
