Beijing, August 24 /Xinhua/ — Special representatives of China and India on the border issue will hold their 25th meeting in Beijing on August 25. This was announced on Monday by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian.
According to the agreement reached by China and India, the meeting will be held by a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, head of the Office of the CPC Central Committee Foreign Affairs Commission and China’s special representative on border issues between China and India, Wang Yi, as well as India’s special representative, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Lin Jian reported.
Commenting on the main topics of the upcoming event, the Chinese diplomat at a regular press conference for journalists noted that the negotiations between the special representatives of China and India on the border issue serve as the primary channel for talks between the two countries on this matter, as well as an important platform for communication between the parties on issues of mutual interest.
As Lin Jian reminded, in August last year China and India successfully held the 24th meeting of special representatives on border issues, during which there was a frank and in-depth exchange of views on the border issue and a number of agreements were reached. During the upcoming meeting, the parties will continue in-depth communication on the border issue in the spirit of consensus of the leaders of the two countries for jointly maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas, he stated.
The parties will also exchange views on bilateral relations, international and regional issues, added the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. –0–
