“Special attention is paid to maintaining the capital’s roads in a regulatory condition. Every year, as part of the preparation for the autumn-winter period, we carry out activities to renew the asphalt concrete pavement. This year, we completed asphalt repairs on the section of Bolshaya Polyanka Street from the Maly Kamenniy Bridge to Yakimansky Driveway, replacing a total of about eight thousand square meters of pavement,” noted Petr Biryukov.
The previous repair on this section was carried out in 2022. One of the reasons for replacing the road surface is rutting, which appears due to heavy vehicle traffic. It creates discomfort for drivers and can negatively affect safety. Because of this, specialists regularly check the condition of the highways, monitor warranty periods, and update the pavement in a timely manner. The main work is mostly done at night, when there are fewer cars.
Repairs are carried out in several stages. First, the old coating is removed, then the inspection wells and stormwater grates are brought into order. After that, new asphalt is laid, and at the final stage, road markings are applied.
When upgrading the street and road network, modern technologies are applied and asphalt concrete mixtures are used, which are produced at city-owned plants.
