Changchun, August 24 /Xinhua/ — Recently, in the city of Shulan, Jilin Province /Northeast China/, the China-Russia Youth Music Festival 2026 was held, featuring performances by young artists from China and Russia.
Vocalists and performers from two countries presented vibrant acts and dance routines. The participants took turns on stage, while the audience rhythmically swayed to the melodies.
As part of the event, Russian teenagers also visited the village of Nanyang in the city of Shulan, where they became acquainted with Chinese folk customs. In the intangible cultural heritage workshop area, Chinese and Russian young people gathered around one table to sculpt clay figurines. Russian girls learned to shape the clay blanks, and a Chinese youth sitting nearby remarked: “They spoke Russian, and I taught them the northeastern dialect of Chinese – that’s how we quickly became friends.”
In addition, Russian teenagers tried their hand at traditional Chinese arts – paper cutting, shadow theater, calligraphy, and other crafts.
The head of the Russian delegation, Oksana Golovanchuk, noted that despite the language barrier, Chinese and Russian young boys and girls gradually found common ground through music and cultural exchange. Many of the participants exchanged contacts and agreed to continue communicating in the future.
The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia partnership and strategic interaction, as well as the beginning of the China-Russia Cross Years of Education.
