Beijing, August 23 /Xinhua/ — On Saturday evening, the second World Humanoid Robot Games opened in Beijing, featuring 666 teams and 2,056 robots from 16 countries.
The five-day event, held at the National Speed Skating Stadium “Ice Ribbon,” includes 51 competitive disciplines.
At the opening ceremony, about 1,000 humanoid robots gathered to showcase advances in this technology and their growing use in real workplaces and everyday life. This year, scenario events are moving from simulated sites to real locations — factories, hotels, and demonstration homes — pushing humanoid robots from “demonstration tools” to “practical productivity.”
The games are jointly organized by the People’s Government of Beijing, China Media Group, the World Organization for Robotics Cooperation, and the International Robotics World Cup Council in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the organizers, holding such competitions is aimed at promoting technological exchange, industrial cooperation, and the development of embodied intelligence.
The first such games were held in August 2025 with the participation of 280 teams and more than 500 humanoid robots from 16 countries. -0-
