On August 22, the entire country celebrates a national holiday dedicated to one of its main symbols — the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation.
Moscow is decorated more than 700 flags and flagship structures. Tricolors are gathered into decorative compositions; white-blue-red banners can be seen on the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky, Bolshoy Kamenny, and Novoarbatsky bridges, as well as on the facades of the State Duma, the Federation Council, and the Moscow Government. Moscow’s public transport is also decorated with flags and coats of arms: buses, electric buses, and trams. Drivers have come to work in ceremonial uniforms. Loktev Song and Dance Ensemble performs, followed by soloists from state musical theaters presenting the program “With Love for Russia!”. In Fili Park, patriotic songs by Soviet and contemporary composers are played. The festival of national horse breeds “Equine Heritage” continues in Khodynskoe Pole Park. Today, theatrical horse parades and a flag-carrying ceremony by a rider are taking place here. At the Vorontsovo estate, guests participate in the interactive “Russia in Details” and an animation master class, while in the Terletskaya Oak Grove recreation area, everyone can create postcards with movable elements.
