Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev visited the Republic of Tatarstan on a working trip. Together with the head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, the vice premier participated in the ceremonial event dedicated to the start of construction of a methionine production plant. The project is being implemented by the company “Tatneft” in cooperation with Chinese partners. The event took place at the new site of the “Green Valley” special economic zone.
“The project has strategic significance for our agro-industrial complex, since effective livestock farming is impossible without this critically important additive. The emergence of new production capacities in the Republic of Tatarstan will fully meet our domestic demand for methionine. Certainly, this is a major step towards ensuring the technological independence of the domestic agro-industrial complex. Moreover, the planned production volumes will allow us to address the task of expanding exports of high value-added products,” said Dmitry Patrushev.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the plant will become the largest facility created under the national project “Technological Support of Food Security.” The total investment volume is expected to be about 130 billion rubles. Most of the funds are a preferential loan approved with the support of the Government of Russia on priority terms.
It is planned that in the future, the production of other important amino acids will be launched at the site of this special economic zone. Dmitry Patrushev emphasized that the Government will continue to support such significant initiatives for the industry. The Deputy Prime Minister also thanked the partners from China for their participation in the project.
The project involves constructing a plant to produce a feed additive – DL-methionine for livestock and aquaculture. This is an essential amino acid, the presence of which in the diet directly affects the productivity and proper development of farm animals.
In addition, Dmitry Patrushev was presented with developments from the company “Tatneft” – advanced practices for waste processing, including polymer wastes, as well as oiled paper and wood chips. Such technologies contribute to the formation of a circular economy and help reduce the environmental impact.
