Ten days of lectures, master classes, new acquaintances, and first steps in entrepreneurship have come to an end. A ceremonial closing of the second session of the educational-tourist program “University Sessions” was held at the State University of Management.

During this time, high school students from various regions of Russia managed to feel like real students of the State University of Management: they got acquainted with the university and its opportunities, met with professors and entrepreneurs, tried to turn their own ideas into projects, and of course, made new friends.

From idea to own startup

One of the main topics of the final meeting was youth entrepreneurship and the opportunities that are now available to schoolchildren and students.

The closing of the shift was attended by the Vice-Rector of GUU Dmitry Bryukhanov, the Director of the Project Office for the Development of Youth Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Organizations Olga Serebryannikova, and the Head of the Department for Project Development and Infrastructure of the Workforce Potential in the Economic Sectors of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development Danila Dremenkov.

Dmitry Bryukhanov told participants about the new educational program of GUU “Profil”, related to innovative entrepreneurship. One of its features is the possibility to obtain two qualifications at once: in the field of innovation and IT.

According to the vice-rector, it is especially important that those who have themselves gone through the process of creating and developing a business share their experience with young people:

Entrepreneurship should be taught by entrepreneurs… This is invaluable experience that they directly pass on to the young people.“.

Moscow is betting on young entrepreneurs

Danila Dremenko spoke about the opportunities that the capital creates for aspiring entrepreneurs. Today, the city faces two important tasks: increasing the share of entrepreneurs under 35 years old and simultaneously developing technological entrepreneurship.

We have two goals. The first is to increase the share of young entrepreneurs among all entrepreneurs. And second, we need to increase the share of technology entrepreneurs.“.

Olga Serebryannikova spoke about opportunities already at the federal level. Today, young people can start getting acquainted with entrepreneurship as early as in school, continue developing their idea at university, and later present their own startup as a thesis project.

At the same time, the value of such experience is not limited to the successful launch of a business:
When you create a real startup and try it out, even if something doesn’t work out, that’s also good. You regroup and present your experience“.

Ten days of real student life

In ten days, the participants managed to get acquainted with the GUU campus, attend teachers’ master classes, work on their own business ideas, communicate with active entrepreneurs, go on several excursions, and test their knowledge in quizzes.

The kids experienced university life from the inside and got acquainted with peers from different parts of the country.
For some, this change became a vivid summer adventure, and for others, the first serious step towards choosing a future profession and university.

“University Shifts” bring together more than 100 leading universities of Russia. The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Movement of the First, Rosmolodezh, and Sber.
