More than 700 flags and festive structures will appear on the streets of the capital for the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, which is celebrated on August 22. Buildings and bridges, as well as city transport—buses, electric buses, and trams—will be decorated with tricolors.
“Traditionally, in honor of the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, we will decorate the city in the colors of the Russian tricolor. This year, we will place more than 700 flag structures on three capital bridges: Bolshoy Moskvoretsky, Bolshoy Kamenny, and Novoarbatsky,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement.
The buildings of the State Duma, the Federation Council, the Moscow Government, and the Federal Antimonopoly Service will be decorated with compositions of tricolors. In addition, on August 22, the architectural and artistic lighting on the central streets of the capital will operate in a festive mode.
A congratulatory video will be broadcast on the media facades of book-house buildings on New Arbat. It will be launched simultaneously with the turning on of the outdoor lighting.
On the holiday, more than 5,600 buses, electric buses, and trams will go on routes flying the flags of Russia and Moscow. Drivers will be working in parade uniforms.
On regular river electric vessels, lighting in the colors of the tricolor will be turned on. On 15 digital displays located at the stations of the Troitskaya line, images of the Russian flag and holiday greetings will be broadcast. Almost all vestibules of metro stations will display the Russian flag.
“By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, the city’s transport complex traditionally joins in celebrating significant dates. On August 22, the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, we will decorate the ground urban transport with tricolors. The regular river electric vessels will have appropriate illumination turned on, and thematic designs will appear on the signs in the metro,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
From August 21 to 23, the capital’s cultural institutions will hold about 250 events for the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation. Among them are film screenings, performances, concerts, lectures, and excursions dedicated to the history of our country and its official symbols.
