Beijing, April 9 /Xin Hua/ — Applications for the export of rare earth metals that meet established requirements, including the requirement for use for legitimate civilian purposes, will be approved in accordance with the law. This was announced on Thursday by the official representative of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, He Yadong.

In response to the question of whether the United States should be concerned about China reimposing restrictions on the export of rare earth metals to this country, He Yadun noted that China remains committed to ensuring the security and stability of global production and supply chains, fully taking into account reasonable civilian needs and concerns worldwide, including those of the United States, actively promoting and simplifying trade in accordance with the relevant rules.

Answering the question of whether the parties will discuss or consider the possibility of further extension of the suspension of export control measures regarding rare earth metals after the statements in the media about words from the US trade representative Jameson Greer about the intention of the United States to hold negotiations with the Chinese side at the working level, He Yadun indicated that the action corresponding to export control measures, which China announced on October 9, 2025, was suspended until November 10, 2026, in accordance with the consensus reached at the session of the China-US trade-economic consultations inKuala Lumpur.

An official representative of the Ministry of Commerce added that China and the USA continue to maintain communication on issues of mutual interest through mechanisms of trade and economic consultations. –0–
